Flooding In Ilha Grande: Pray for Brazil
On 26 March in Ilha Grande, Brazil, over 4 inches (108.8 millimetres) rain fell within 24 hours, affecting around 1,140 people and flooding 600 homes in the area. The state government declared a state of emergency. Floodwatch sources suggest that there were at least three fatalities in Piauà (northeast Brazil). The weather continued to worsen with only one sunny day in two weeks.
Two Compassion projects and a large number of Compassion-supported children were affected by the heavy rain and flooding. Funds from the Compassion’s Stability Interventions supported the projects and children who were affected by providing food, water, mattresses, hygiene products and cleaning materials.
Thankfully conditions have now improved, many schools have reopened and most of the children have returned to their homes, but the weather is still hazardous and families are still in need of support.
Join us in prayer as we thank God for keeping those in Ilha Grande from serious harm and for His continued protection as they recover from this disaster.
