India has an estimated 400 million children. Of these 70 million are thought to be child labourers, 13 million are homeless and 2 million are street children. The persistence of caste differences and discrimination of girls makes it difficult for children to have equal opportunities to education.
Compassion’s work in India started in 1968 and in 2002 Compassion opened another office in East India. Altogether Compassion is helping over 50,000 children in projects.
