6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Philippines

6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Philippines

On July 6th a 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Philippines in Leyte Province, affecting neighbouring islands as well.

Initial reports stated that two people were killed and several others were injured.

Power outages are affecting Leyte, Samar and Bohol and the power plant was shut down due to damaged wires and insulators. Repairs are underway but could take 2-3 weeks.

  • 22 of our Church partners are in area without power.  Our Child Sponsorship Programme is running as usual, but the power outages may delay a few of their processes where they need internet connection (such as letters and updates).
  • None of our Compassion sponsored children are directly affected.

Join us in thanking God for protecting our sponsored children in this area and for restoration in these affected areas.
