In their latest update, our East Indonesian office explains that the impact assessment for the flooding is taking time because project staff members have been personally affected. They can confirm one Compassion project in the region resumed activities yesterday. Most families continue to stay with relatives outside the flood zone.

Over last weekend, heavy rains fell in West Kutai and East Kalimantan in East Indonesia. A local river burst its banks causing widespread flooding and submerging thousands of homes underwater.

The local government, along with other agencies, is working to distribute supplies to those who have been affected. Please join us in praying for all the families impacted by the crisis, especially those who are now homeless.

According to the latest reports from Compassion East Indonesia, five of our church partners are believed to be impacted but no details are available yet. Some children have been evacuated from the area and are staying with relatives outside the flood zone.
