Our Faith

We’re responding to God’s call to love our neighbour and look after the poor. Our faith is the motivator for everything we do, yet we take great care to ensure we don’t discriminate in the help we give. We work with children and families in poverty irrespective of their religious beliefs, race, gender or sexual orientation.

We believe it’s not enough to ensure children are fed, clothed and educated. And that to truly overcome poverty, children need to know God’s love and the great plans He has for their lives. When we share God’s love with children and families, we do so in ways that are culturally relevant and non-coercive. When a child joins the Compassion programme, our church partners take great time and care to ensure parents are aware of the Christian foundations of our work.

Statement of Faith

To reflect our love of Christ, we’ve adopted the World Evangelical Alliance’s statement of faith:

The Holy Scriptures, as originally given by God: divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

One God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, His virgin birth, His sinless human life, His divine miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, His mediatorial work, and His personal return in power and glory.

The Salvation of lost and sinful man through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from works, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Unity of the Spirit of all true believers, the Church, the Body of Christ.

The Resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life; and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
