Why is Compassion UK increasing the sponsorship rate?

The inflation we’re suffering in the UK is a global problem and has had a particular impact on the cost of food, fertilisers and fuel in the countries in which Compassion operates. Inflation has made everything more expensive, and the current cost of living crisis means the needs exceed the resources our church partners have available. Our top priority is to get more funding to our church partners as soon as possible so that children aren’t impacted.

Annual inflation in Sri Lanka is currently 54%, in Ghana it’s 53% and in Haiti it’s 48%.

Additionally, the value of the British pound has dropped significantly against the US Dollar in the past few years, affecting our ability to serve children worldwide. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to increase our monthly sponsorship rate to £32.

This is truly a global phenomenon, and our colleagues in Canada, Scandinavia, New Zealand and USA have all recently increased their sponsorship amounts too.
