The three main threats to the welfare of children in Thailand are drugs, prostitution and Aids. Many children, particularly in rural areas, have been lured into prostitution because of poverty. Street children or children living in slums are also targeted by drug rings to become sellers of drugs. There is an increasing number of Aids orphans and children infected with HIV/Aids.
Compassion’s work in Thailand began in 1970 and over 25,000 children are now helped through church-based projects.
