Compassion’s ministry in Kenya started in 1980 and currently over 40,000 children are helped in church-based projects. Kenya continues to face many social and economic problems that make life very hard, especially for children. Diarrhoea, malnutrition and the rapid spread of malaria and HIV/Aids are major contributors to deaths and illness. Child labour is also common: the country has more than 1.9 million children working in homes or farms.
