The Bible reminds us of the power of God
It can be tough to keep trusting in God when life gets difficult. There are no easy answers in the Word of God as to why suffering happens, but the Lord Jesus Christ never shied away from its reality both in his teaching and in his life. Bible verses about faith remind us about the power of God and give us the hope and strength to carry on.
Read about Jesus’ life in the New Testament, so faith is strengthened within you. We’re told in Luke 1 that the writer intends his historical account to help his friend, Theophilus, ‘know the certainty of the things you’ve been taught.’ So, take heart by looking at the evidence given by Jesus’ teaching and ministry, which serves to demonstrate the love, power and faithfulness of God.
The writer of Hebrews explains, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” This chapter of Hebrews records many people in history who trusted in God through hard times and much uncertainty, giving us wonderful examples to follow, and showing us the bigger picture of what faith looks like over a lifetime.
We invite you to share these verses about faith in the Bible with friends who need encouragement to keep trusting in God today.
All of these Bible verses about faith have been taken from the NIV version of the Bible
Our favourite scripture on faith
God, our Heavenly Father, promises to never leave us nor forsake us. We have been restored into relationship with God by faith and not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9). We get to be called children of God and to look forward to eternal life with Him forever.
Matthew 17:20 “…Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
John 6:35 “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’”
Romans 5:3-5 “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
John 5: 24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”
John 20:29 “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

Bible verses about faith and doubt
We all have seasons where we wrestle with doubts. Even the disciples asked Jesus in Luke 17, “increase our faith.” And in Mark 9, a father longing for Jesus to perform a miracle says, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
The Bible encourages us to keep pursuing God amidst our questions. And take heart in knowing that we have the presence of many witnesses in heaven, our fellow believers, cheering us on to finish our race!
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 11:40 “Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
Romans 14:1 “Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarrelling over disputable matters.”
Matthew 14: 29-31 “Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ he said, ‘why did you doubt?’”
Matthew 21:21 “Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”
James 1:6 “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Hebrews 12:1-3 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Children around the world face immense barriers due to poverty.
