Pray for Mary as she battles food shortages in Kenya

Please join us in continuing to pray for all those affected by the food shortages in East Africa. Please pray for those like Mary who are struggling to feed their families:

market trader in Kenya

“I’ve been vending fruits and vegetables for close to 30 years, and this year has been one of the hardest since 1997 when we had El Nino floods. The drought has hit us hard as we can’t readily find food items from farmers, and when we do, they are too expensive.

A 50-kilo sack of potatoes was trading at KSh. 2,500 this time last year. It’s now trading upwards of KSh. 6,000. There’s little or no profit to be made and I’ve decided not to stock some of these items because of less demand. Ordinarily, this market would be filled with buyers, but as you can see, there are few buyers on the streets. I’m worried that if we don’t get adequate rainfall soon, it will be very hard for me to feed my seven children.”
