What safety issues may have led to the child I sponsor being removed from their Compassion project?

To be eligible to attend a Compassion project, the children need to live within 30 minutes walking distance from the church or development centre.

As you’re aware, Compassion work with the partners in areas of poverty. The communities we serve are often afflicted with many, deep rooted issues which can include violence, lack of infrastructure, extreme weather conditions etc.

A family’s decision to remove a child from their project for safety reasons does not necessarily indicate an increase in violence or crime in the area, although that’s possible. It may be due to a parent or older sibling no longer being able to accompany the child on the journey to the project and it not being safe for a young child to travel alone.
