Volunteering Specialist (Challenges and Fundraising)

 Amazing opportunity to proactively recruit and support Compassion UK’s volunteer activists to help release children from poverty in Jesus' name.

Compassion UK’s Volunteering unit partners with passionate volunteer activists to give our ministry into their hands, ensuring they are known, loved, protected, and ignited to action alongside the Church in the developing world.

In the coming years we seek to grow this base powerfully into a movement of compassion for children in poverty across the UK. The Volunteering Specialist (Challenges and Fundraising) will play a key role in supporting and encouraging this through the Challenges pathway, maximising engagement, revenue and sponsorship outcomes.

The Volunteering Specialist is an exciting role for a team player with a deep sense of personal connection to Compassion’s Christian ministry. Do you have experience of working professionally with volunteers, recruiting, inducting, training and managing especially leading volunteers to fundraise? Could you plan and manage such events? You may not run a marathon, but could you be there at the finish line to cheer on the team? You’ll need to be committed to delivering excellent customer service, building strong relationships with volunteers, confidently communicating Compassion’s ethos and values.

Job Purpose: Work within the Volunteering unit to:
• recruit and support volunteer activists for the Challenges pathway;
• equip volunteer activists with the skills, training, and resources to effectively partner as      Challenges volunteers in Compassion’s ministry;
• manage and develop CUK’s challenge events programme.

Key Outcomes
1. Promote and maintain CUK’s Christian ethos and values;
2. A Challenges pathway supplying fulfilling experiences for volunteer activists and           delivering CUK’s outcomes;
3. Efficient management of CUK’s challenge events programme to help change the lives of children living in poverty.

This is a fixed term role up to one year, office-based working 35 hours per week on a flexible pattern Monday to Saturday.

N.B. Office Relocation: The Compassion UK office is currently in Weybridge, Surrey. The office will relocate in May 2018 to Fleet, Hampshire.

The Volunteering Specialist role has an occupational requirement for the post holder to have an active Christian faith.

Generous benefits package including: 25 days holiday per year plus Bank Holidays, 10% employer’s pension contribution and private medical and dental cover.
