About the role

This is a unique opportunity to play an integral role in shaping the future of a key area of fundraising at Compassion UK. We would like you to enable us to realise our ambition to help Compassion UK develop relationships and secure new gifts from supporters with capacity to make significant new gifts of between £3,000 and £20,000.

The role is focused on developing closer relationships with supporters who may consider higher levels of support for Compassion UK - support that is in addition to their existing sponsorship support. The role will use a combination of face-to-face, telephone and e-mail approaches to communicate the power of a gift at this level. You will develop creative and effective ways to engage, ask and thank these donors and shape a long-term strategy to improve their acquisition and retention.

You will work closely and in conjunction with other team members whose primary focus is on mid-level donors and major donors. Through your engagement of these supporters, you will also cultivate a pipeline of future major donors. In so doing, you will enable Compassion UK to release even more children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

The role will be focused on (but not limited to) engaging donors in the South, South East and East of England and you must be prepared to travel to meet with donors in those areas, and even travel more widely where the opportunity arises, to secure new gifts for Compassion UK.

Responsibilities

  • Actively maintain and promote Compassion UK’s Christian ethos and values.
  • Develop and implement an effective giving strategy for Compassion UK for gifts at this level.
  • Personal Fundraising - identify and cultivate relationships and secure new gifts via prospective individual supporters who will consider gifts ‘beyond sponsorship’.
