Contacting your Local Press
Local publications love stories about local people making a difference in the world and it is a great way to raise awareness of the work of Compassion. Simply follow the steps below and see if your story gets printed!
1. Download a Press Release
Click here for a standard press release which you can personalise by substituting the sections marked in red with your own information.
2. Add a Photograph
Find a good photograph of you meeting your sponsored child and include that with your press release. A great photograph can make all the difference to getting your story noticed.
3. Email or write to your local newspaper
Your release will have more success if you send it to the named news editor of your chosen newspaper.
4. Follow up with a phone call
Call the newspaper a few days after you send the press release to ensure it arrived.
5. Send a copy to Compassion
If you do manage to make it into print, please send a copy of the article to Compassion - we’d love to see it!
