Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world. Children suffer from malaria, respiratory infections, diarrhoea and malnutrition. A very high percentage of children work, many in situations where they suffer physical or sexual abuse. Burkina Faso is also a source, transit and destination country for internationally trafficked children who are sold into slavery.
Compassion’s work in Burkina Faso started in 2004 with projects around the capital, Ouagadougou. At present nearly 7,500 children are benefiting through Compassion.
