Plan your event
Step 1
You know your church best, but the most effective way to promote Compassion is an oral presentation combined with a sponsorship sign-up table.
Our Life in a Day pack provides word for word presentation guides together with a compelling film. The film conveys the transforming power of sponsorship by following the life of Jackie Nakabugo, a formerly sponsored child from Uganda.
We will also provide you with leaflets and information about specific children who are waiting for sponsorship for people to read at your sponsorship sign up table.
Prayerfully consider the best way to share Compassion with your congregation. Use the checklist below to help you.

Step 2
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
Once you have an idea of the opportunities there might be in your church, make an appointment with your church leader or anyone else who needs to approve your plans.
Give your church leader a copy of the Information for Church Leaders before your meeting. This brochure forms part of the Life in a Day pack and is designed to inspire those in leadership about the work of Compassion. Be sure to familiarise yourself with it.
SHARE FROM YOUR HEART
Most churches are looking for ways to engage their congregation in caring for the poor and living out the Great Commission. Compassion child sponsorship is an excellent way to get Christians personally involved in doing exactly that. You can expect your congregation's hearts to be transformed as they build relationships with the children they sponsor.
It is important that your passion for helping children in poverty comes across in your meeting, so take along details of the child you sponsor and any letters that you have received. Be prepared to talk about the impact this has had on your life. Pray for clarity of speech and the ability to share your vision effectively when you meet your church leaders.
SUGGEST FLEXIBLE OPTIONS
Make sure your church leader knows that your primary concern is to help more children in need and you will be grateful for any opportunities available to do so. In light of this, be as flexible as you can when suggesting activities to raise awareness of Compassion in your church.
Remember all the materials to help you run your Life in a Day event are available in the Life in a Day pack.
