"It makes so much difference for our children, their families, and church partners knowing that their Compassion family continuously prays for them and makes their needs known at this critical time. Please continue to pray for the different teams of counsellors and doctors ministering to affected families."

Philippines Flood Relief Appeal
As we welcome in the New Year, tragically some of our Compassion children in the Philippines are beginning 2012 homeless. 12 children have lost their lives, others are still missing.
Overnight flash flooding swept across the island of Mindanao on 17 December. National news reports suggest that over 1,000 people have been killed and 800 people are reported as missing. Compassion projects from Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City have been impacted. Nearly 600 Compassion children's homes have been damaged or destroyed when the river rose high enough to crest a 35-foot embankment and swept houses away.
Please be assured that Compassion will contact you directly if your sponsored child has been affected as soon as we have received further reports from the Philippines office.
If you would like to make a donation, please follow the link to the appeal fund web page. Your money will help bring immediate relief to children affected, as well as assist the recovery and rebuilding that is needed to continue Compassion’s programmes. In the immediate aftermath of this tragedy, Compassion is working to stabilise the situation by providing food, drinking water, clothing and safe accommodation. Your donation will make a huge difference to those caught up in this tragedy and give them renewed hope for 2012.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
Note: If Compassion raises funds exceeding the needs for this crisis, the money will be used to help Compassion children affected by other disasters.
