Kevin Foote

I am a 55 year old lorry driver, married to Trisha. Last year we went to Kolkata, India and worked with the street children and Big Life Ministries, this experience has motivated me to try and help and provide for others looking to further themselves. This climb will allow me to raise money for people whilst challenging myself in the process. I particularly dislike flying, so just getting to Africa will be a challenge in itself!

Date of Trip: March 2012

I am treking up Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, to enable four Compassion Leadership Development Programme students to attend university. It is, for me, a challenge as I do not like flying and I'm not exactly the fittest person in the world, but I can do something about this. The four people I am walking up the mountain for have not had the chances I've had. I firmly believe that without the chance of a better education young people cannot escape the poverty trap. Some of the graduates that have completed this programme have gone on to become doctors, teachers, pastors, agriculturalists and Members of Parliaments. Please donate to this fantastic cause and enable these young people to continue their education and become people and can, and I believe will, make a difference in their nation.

Fundraising Target: £2000

My experiences in India and talking with the interpreters and the people that we met, led me to believe passionately that the key to helping people out of poverty lies in education. By helping the four Compassion Leadership Development Program students gain the education that they are aspiring for, we will empower them to provide for both themselves and others, when without education they would most likely find themselves struggling through life in poverty.
