Edgar Rich

I am a 57 year old retired IT Network Sales Consultant living in Camberley, Surrey. I keep myself busy at the moment by studying for a degree in Theology from the London School of Theology, Northwood, Middlesex, learning the Turkish language because my wife and I have been going there on mission work for the last three years. I am also actively involved in my local church in Bagshot called the Brook Church with various outreach activities. I am a keen sportsman playing cricket, squash and badminton on a regular basis plus I like to keep fit by visiting my local gym, Fitness First in Camberley. I also enjoy hill walking, over the last two years I have visited the Lake District and thoroughly enjoyed my walks in this beautiful part of Lancashire.

Date of Trip: March 2012

Edgar Rich is trekking Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world to enable four Compassion Leadership Development Programme students to attend university. These students have already overcome exceptional obstacles in their lives to be where they are today. Your sponsorship will help provide these students with a university education, additional support with study materials and living expenses., leadership training, and one to one mentoring. Recent graduates from Compassion's Leadership Development Programme have gone on to become agriculturalists, biomedical technicians, businesspeople, doctors, teachers, pastors and Members of Parliament. Who knows the next president of a nation could be an LDP student. Please donate to this wonderful cause and be a part of enabling a young leader to continue their education and training in order to become an agent of change for their community and nation.

Fundraising Target: £2000.00

To be able to make a tangible difference to the lives of those less fortunate than us is incredible as well as very humbling. God has blessed me abundantly and I would very much like to help, even in a small way, to empower others less fortunate than me. The simple fact is that these young people have all the ability to make real change but, as a result of being born into poverty, they do not have the opportunity to do so. So being able to contribute to the future of these young people and the community around them makes the challenge very much more than worthwhile.
